1/2 C. shortening (I used butter)
1 t. salt (pinch)
1 t. vanilla (omit)
1 t. cinnamon
1 t. baking soda
1 C. chocolate chips or nuts
1 egg
1/2 t. cloves (I used nutmeg)
1 C. sugar
3 C. sugar (omit)
2 C. applesauce

Mix ingredients. I mixed the butter and sugar, then beat in the eggs and applesauce. Then I mixed in the dry ingredients. Then I mixed in the chocolate chips. Drop by teaspoons on baking sheet. I poured the whole batter into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 375° for 10-12 minutes. I did 350 for 30 minutes.
